Simple Ways to Make Family Days More Comfortable
School holidays are a great time to get out and explore, visit family and friends, take a road trip or simply enjoy slower days at home.
A little preparation can make those days easier — especially when children are spending more time in the car, walking around, playing outdoors or settling in for a quiet afternoon.
Here are a few simple ways to add comfort to your school holiday plans.
Getting Ready for Road Trips
Whether you're heading away for a few days or taking a day trip, comfortable seating can make a difference on longer journeys.
Before you leave, think about:
* Making sure children's car seats are positioned comfortably
* Adding suitable cushioning for extra comfort where appropriate
* Keeping jackets, blankets and other essentials easy to reach
* Packing a few familiar items to help children settle during the journey
* Planning regular stops on longer drives so everyone can stretch and take a break
Car Seat Comfort
A quality sheepskin car seat pad can add a soft layer between your child and the seat while helping make longer journeys more comfortable.
Create a Relaxing Space at Home
Not every school holiday day needs to be busy.
Set aside a comfortable area where children can read, draw, play games, watch a movie or simply have some quiet time.
You could create a simple holiday corner with:
* A soft sheepskin rug
* A comfortable bean bag
* Cushions or blankets
* Favourite books and toys
* A soft play area for younger children
You don't need to completely rearrange a room. A few comfortable additions can turn an unused corner into a space the whole family can enjoy.
Keep Little Feet Comfortable
School holidays can mean plenty of walking, exploring and outdoor play.
Before the holidays begin, check that children's footwear still fits comfortably. Children grow quickly, so a pair that fitted well a few months ago may now feel different.
When choosing holiday footwear, consider where it will be worn:
For everyday outings:
Choose comfortable footwear that is easy to put on and suitable for regular walking.
For cooler days:
Warm sheepskin footwear can provide cosy insulation when temperatures drop.
For trips and visits:
Look for styles that are practical and comfortable for the activities planned.
Don't forget to check socks too. A comfortable fit from the inside out can make busy days much more enjoyable.
Bring Along a Few Familiar Favourites
For younger children, familiar toys and comfort items can make travelling and visiting new places easier.
A favourite soft toy can come along on a road trip, stay beside them during an afternoon nap or become part of a new holiday routine.
Soft toys can also make thoughtful additions to a child's holiday space at home.
Make Time for Both Adventure and Rest
School holidays don't have to be packed with activities.
After a busy day out, children may appreciate some quiet time to read, watch a favourite movie, play or simply relax.
Creating a comfortable space at home gives everyone somewhere to recharge before the next adventure.
A soft rug, cosy seating and a few favourite things can make an ordinary afternoon feel special.
